So Today I want to share with you a tried and true recipe to my favorite red velvet cookies!

Red Velvet White Chocolate Chunk Cookies:
1 box - red velvet cake mix
1 cup - all purpose flour
2 sticks - butter {softened}
1 egg
2 cups - white chocolate chunks {chips}

1} Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

2} In a mixing bowl, add the butter and mix until soft and fluffy.
{hand mixer works best for this}

3} Slowly add the cake mix and flour.

4} Once that is combined, add the egg and mix completely.

5} Add white chocolate chips, and mix it for a minute or so until it is all well combined {I had to use my hands for this, since the texture was pretty thick at this point}

6} Form dough into one inch balls, {I used a regular sized ice cream scoop, and halfed the ball size it gave me. If you can find the mini ice cream scoops, those work great for cookies!}

7} Place them into the oven for 8-10 minutes on an un-greased cookie sheet.

8} Remember: when you take them out of the oven, they're going to be mushy, but give it a few minutes to cool {as they are still cooking even out of the oven} and voila!

{Makes about 24 small cookies}

They are my holiday treat weakness!

You can find the original recipe Here

Enjoy!

{Seven Swans a-Swimming}

I went to Walmart tonight to grab a few groceries {i never grocery shop there, but I had some non-food items I needed as well} and there was nothing but MADNESS.. The closest parking spot was way in the back, everyone was uncourteous, example: this woman had her grocery cart in front of the item I needed, and I politely said "excuse me, I'm just going to grab some of these" and as i reached for my razor heads, she gave me the worst dirty look as if i were trying to steal her items or something, and jerked her cart! Really?? I notice that sometimes this holiday season is one extreme or the other. Either people are extremely nice and joyous of this time of year, or they're snarky and rude because of the hustle and bustle of buying stuff.

This year the hubs and I bought our family giftcards, and sent them our wedding picture greeting card. Buying things and splurging on Christmas gifts is a really nice thing to do for your loved ones, but in the middle of all of that, it can sometimes become easy forget the reason and the meaning of Christmas. And we forget WHO the reason for the season is.

I felt it appropriate to share this video, as it really just makes you step back and slow down, and take a moment of thankfulness, and taking that moment of grace. Christmas day is the most wonderful day of the year because an almighty, everloving, everlasting king was born who lived a sinless life so that we can be born again.

{Six Geese a-Laying}

On the sixth day of Christmas, Miss Aubrey gave to me....

Today before church service, our wedding photographer {and good friend of mine} handed me a cute little christmas gift bag, and automatically I knew it was probably our photos, and it was (: But not only that, she also gave us the cutest Wedding/Christmas ornament! Inside, it has our wedding invitation, and also attatched a cute little "b" charm for our lastname, and also a little ring charm next to it! Now, we need to buy a little counter-christmas tree.

And this is one of the photos I printed out from the discs she gave me (: I'm SUPER excited!!!! I put the photo in one of our frames that we used for a table number at the wedding reception.

How awesome is she?! Stop by her blog {Green Anchor Photo} and send her some love (: Oh, and if you're anywhere near the Las Vegas Valley, BOOK HER. Keep in mind, I just finished it tonight, and I am going to be adding a lace bow at the top (: I will post those final pictures as soon as I finish it, and with my DSLR, but for now, I just wanted to show my progress.

You can find the tutorial in that link i provided, but I cut strips of ivory burlap in .5"x6.5" because I wanted my wreath to look more condensed and tighter, therefore I made smaller strips..

And i worked in each section:

And voila!

I will be hanging it on our front door :D
Hope you enjoyed, and post pictures if you made one too!

{Four Calling Birds}

Today's topic is on Holiday Cards.

My family has never really sent out Holiday greeting cards, but I think this is totally necessary this year, because this doubles as a thank you card! 2 Birds, 1 stone, hayyyyy. I haven't done much traveling {sad considering I work for a Resort Destination within a company that owns Affiliated Resorts Worldwide}

BUT...

about a week before I took off work to finish plans for the wedding, a sales manager, {who is totally awesome} dropped by my office from time to time to check up on everything and he asked me about honeymoon vacationing plans. Orginally the plan was to go to Laughlin, Nv ~ Both Chad and I have never been there before. The look on his face was priceless, immediately he pulled some crazy strings together in a matter of just a few days, and booked our vacation in our resort in Lake Tahoe!!! PLUS, he got with the sales team, and they all put money together to bless us, and help us pay for traveling expenses and car rental fees. I am still completely shocked that they cared for me like that! It was definitely a good feeling, and when I came back to work, I felt that much more encouraged to do even better knowing that they appreciate what I do {sometimes I feel like a "bottom feeder" as some would call it, crammed in my office all day with no one really to talk to besides our guests} But since today's topic just so happens to be about vacationing, I am going to share some honeymoon details and photos that we took while we were in Tahoe.

Please keep in mind that I didn't have my DSLR with me on my honeymoon, I regret not taking it, but it was good to just embrace everything for the short time we were there. I used my camera phone for all of these pics, and none of them have been retouched or edited, i'm lazy :/ and some i took off my instagram {deleted the orginials} So here it is!

The left is a photo I took of us driving to get breakfast, and of course, the hubs is on the right {can you tell we were super duper tired?}

We had the most AMAZING dinner at this restruant {can't remember the name} but when Chad called for reservations, I guess when they asked us if it was a special occasion, and he said we just got married, they personalized a menu for us! Isn't that awesome??? the date is off by a day, but it was still cute :) Oh and the apatizer, don't ask me what it was.. crab, avocado, mango something, with some kind of secret sauce. it was actually really good, and with Chad's favorite fruit being a mango, he loved this so much he begged me to find out how to make it. My dinner was phenominal, and desert ~ do i need to say anything about that? We came back to the room bloated and fat :P

Checked out a few art galleries in Heavenly Village, and I was captured by the Dr. Seuss peices. About the snowboard ~ we had a sales rep sit us down to try to sell us that peice of art, and mentioned we could have it personalized and have the artist carve {c+c 11.11.11} in the tree part. Tempting, but we couldn't justify it for 3grand, no thanks :)

Of course we made a few trips to the Chocolate Factory, and laer ran into a pet store sweet bar, and thought it was absolutely adorable.

We took a lake tour on the "Queen Tahoe." It was gorgeous, we were on there for 2 hours, so after a while we started feeling a little weird, but we got to sit down at a cute little bench/table area as we looked out at the crystal clear water. I was tempted to jump in, I'll admit.

Chlobelle in 10 years

I feel like no matter what time of day it was {besides nighttime} the sun was right in our eyes. Maybe it was the altitude or something, but jeez!

We drove to a spot where we could walk along the lakeside, and I can't ever walk anywhere near sand without drawing in it.

I won (;

I had to take some of that sand with me ~ so we found a cute little jar to put it in. We're going to start a collection from all of our future vacations!

If you ever get the chance to go to Virgina City, go check it out! it's pretty awesome, for a little while. It's fair to say that if you're there for over 2 hours, it just becomes weird. This was the church in that little ole' town!

Here's all the photos i took from my Instagram. I don't have the originals in my phone, so there you have it!

Here's a video of the hubs and I on the Queen Tahoe

I wanted to make a list of all the places we visited/things we purchased/places we went to eat at, but I feel like we did so much, I'd get overwhelmed trying to put all that together! This was the best vacation I have ever had, and I can't wait for the many more to come with my amazing husband (:

Christmas Giveaway! {Carly Kmyta}

I am so excited! That's exactly what today's topic is about. I think everyone gets a little caught up in the mad rush and the business of buying things for Christmas, rather than really stepping back and examining the true meaning behind it, and the importance of spending this time to appreciate and love one another.

Last Sunday I learned a heart-rending fact that made my stomach hurt. I learned the sad fact that studies have shown the Christmas season has the highest depression rate out of any other time of the year. They show that the holidays can bring up some very difficult emotions and the holiday cheer tends to "amplify loneliness and hopelessness in people who have lost loved ones, or who have high expectations of renewed happiness during the holiday season, only to be disappointed." Others think the "increase in anxiety and gloominess is caused by the unavoidable stress, exhaustion, and frustration that come with preparing for the holidays."

This is a time where we all can easily get caught up in the madness of this time of year. My husband is an assistant manager at a high-volume retail shop in the galleria that targets teen apparel, and snowboarding gear. And with me working in the "timeshare world," it gets really stressful for the both of us having to work 24/7, not being able to see each other much, the lifestyle adjustment of living together and being married, not really having any money leftover because of the wedding/honeymoon expenses, it becomes easy to get into little arguments that don't mean anything and we usually end up asking ourselves what were even fighting about in the first place.

After hearing about that fact last Sunday, I had to stop and think to myself about what I am most thankful for. First thing that pops into my head? My family. Yes, we have definitely had our ups and downs, but at the end of the day, whoever yelled at who, or who started it, simply does not matter ~ because out of anyone you know, they are the ones that will stick by you for the rest of your existence on this planet.

I LOVE my family to death. My husband is an amazing man of God, and I really miss my family back home in Texas. My sister lives down the street from me and I haven't seen her once since she moved there, how crazy is that??? I haven't really spoken to my mother since the wedding, nor my father. They are the ones that love and care about me the most, and writing about this topic today has really opened up a new perspective for me. To not take for granted what you have. Because one day, you may regret taking advantage of having your loved ones in your life because of the convenience of it. I know this sounds totally cliche' and it's more than likely something you've never heard before, but this is something that should really be paid more attention to, especially at this time of year.

To my close family and friends reading this post, please forgive me if you've ever felt I have ever taken your love for me for granted. I want to cherish you and keep you by my side for as long as you are here on this Earth.

I love that the Holidays tend to give us that extra push that we sometimes need to acknowledge our loved ones.

Merry Christmas to everyone reading this, and please take time out of your day to call someone, write, or visit. To tell them how much you love them and how much they mean to you.

{A Partridge In A Peartree}

<border="0" href="http://www.casadelhansen.com" target="_blank">
So I have jumped on the 12 Days of Christmas Challenge blog hop~train. Today's topic: Trees!

O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree,
O how I wish I could have thee...

Unfortunately this post isn't going to be much fun. The hubs and I have been married and living together barely a month, and after the wedding, the honeymoon, thanksgiving, and due to the fact that we have a tiny apartment with no children or family living with us ~ We figured that it would be best if we hold out on the Christmas tree this year. I know, weird!! This is my very first year EVER to not have some sort of tree that is present in the home. But I'm keeping my eyes on the prize: we are hoping that this time next year, we will OWN a house. One that will fit a tree comfortably, and one that we can actually put presents under ;)

However, we do have some ornaments that we bought in Tahoe on our honeymoon, thinking we would get a tree. I'll post up some pictures later.

I'm going to call myself a plan-aheader, and show you all what my ideal Christmas tree looks like, since we don't have one of our own to show off:

I love every element that was decorated onto this gorgeous tree! The shabby-chicness off it with the ruffled tree skirt, the consistent ornaments, the brown paper packaging. I remember how tiny she was. Just a little ole runt. She was the only one left that wasn't yellow. I didn't want a yellow dog because earlier that day (whole other story to tell later) my dog had died. He was a beautiful yellow Lab/Golden Retriever mix. I didn't want him to feel like he was being replaced. I know that sounds really stupid, but In my heart, he has a special place where only he belonged. And no other dog will be able to fit in that spot. But getting a dog that looked like him really just didn't interest me. But that wasn't the first reason we picked her out anyway. It was love at first sight with Chloe. She stood out. She was the smallest, and she looked almost like a german shepard. I knew she was unique, and we took her home that night. Here are some of the photos (we were too into playing with all the puppies than taking good pictures, so sorry about the terrible quality. None of them have been enhanced or edited)

Look at the size difference in the paws!

This picture always cracks me up,
because to this day, she still drips water like that!

I think she was really sad her first few days away from her first family. I think she knew.

She went through several swkward stages ~ especially with her ears. Her ears grew alot faster than her body proportion, so at one point, she looked like Sally field from "the flying nun" and for a while, that was her nickname.

Now here is the CRAZY transformation of our precious Chloe. From the day we got her, to today. I sometimes wonder if she is the same dog that we got...????? You decide:

The picture is a bit blury, so from left to right there she is at 8 weeks(2months), 12 weeks(3 months), 18 weeks(4.5months), and 24 weeks(6 months)

I'm still just amazed at how much she has grown, and she still has more to do! I can't wait until she's a big girl. Hopefully one day soon, we can get her a brother or a sister ;)

{Music Monday} How to play piano by ear

Most people in my youtube comments are always asking me for sheet music or chord charts for the songs I've played and uploaded. Unfortunately, I cannot read sheet music. I've tried, and it's just always been a struggle for me.

When I moved to Las Vegas, it was in the middle of the summer, 2 days after my 14th birthday. I knew NOBODY and I was to start highschool that season. I needed something to do until then, and so one day I walked into our apartment's clubhouse and found this BEAUTIFUL grand in the lobby. I asked the leasing agent at the front desk if I could try to play it and she responded with "Well I guess it's not just for looks.." so I sat down with my iPod shuffle, played some Coldplay, and slowly started picking out the notes on piano. It definitely took me a while. I figured I could probably check youtube for some tutorials. That is exactly what I did. I would run to the apartment, watch the video, try to memorize it and take notes, run back to the clubhouse and try to play it on the piano. After I learned my first song, it became so addicting to me. After a while, I learned to play by ear to where I didn't need to look up any tutorials to validate.So what I want to do is try to share the tips and tricks that I went with when teaching myself. I want to enable people to learn how to play a piece of music just by listening to it. When you master it, you won't need sheet music, and it is also a great way to understand chord progressions later down the road when you decide you really want to persue playing music.

Playing by ear consists of these four things:
1 ~ Recognizing the tone and notes in the music you are trying to play (in other words - you cannot be "tone-deaf")
2 ~ Your tonal memory to recall the music you hear (the ability to remember the notes)
3 ~ Your ears and fingers to play that music
4 ~ Using chords to help draw out those melodies and harmonies within the song

For me, it came natural to memorize the music that I was trying to replicate. Every person is different when it comes to natural abilities. For some, this will be harder than most. But don't let it discourage you. This sounds all complicated when written, but when you're physically in front of a piano, and learning everything step by step, things slowly start to make more sense to you. My method of finding the notes from the song was simply humming the note that I was trying to find on piano. At this point when I started playing, I knew NOTHING about theory. In fact, I didn't even know what the definition of a chord was.

What is a chord?
- A Chord is a group of (typically 3 or more) notes played together at the same time, as a basis of a harmony.

Example:
If I wanted to play a C-chord, the notes in it would be: C, E, & G. Play all three notes at the same time and they become a chord.

The first thing I would do (and I wish I would of done this, had I known) is start learning how to play chords. And figure out which chords fit into the same key.

This Website will help present to you specific chords. You click on which note you want to play, and then on the left-hand side, it will give you options of what kind of chord you can turn that note into. It's pretty awesome! Get familiar and research the chords, and also, go to youtube to search chord tutorials. Soon, you will know it with ease and it will not be a struggle.

This Website will help tune your ear when playing piano :)

Check back in next monday to learn more about how I play my chord progressions!

A brand new family

On 11-11-11 I married the love of my life, Chad. We started seeing each other when we were 15 years old - we were unseperable best friends, and it's hard to believe that we are finally married! It's definitely a weird feeling. For some reason, it's just been a slow process for it to really settle in that we are husband and wife. It's definitely a big mix of emotions sometimes, having to change your lifestyle, and putting someone else's needs before yours, and learning to communicate things that you never knew to communicate beforehand. But I'm so happy and excited, and I can't wait to see what God has in the future for us. It's a big adventure that we are learning as we go.
The beginning of my new family now consists of me, the hubs, and the pup. And also because at one point when I was actually active on YouTube, my subscribers wanted to hear from me since we all knew I would't be having much time to be posting videos. Only after a few short months I lost a computer, and my interest in posting.

I am finally ready to commit to something other than just work. I need some kind of hobby, a way to get away from everyday life stress. I'd also like my family to know what's new in my life, and what kind of things I am interested in.

Please keep in mind that this is an unconsistant girl who wants to make consistant updates. Not sure what the outcome of this second attempt is going to look like, but whoever is reading this, I hope you can encourage me and give some critisism to draw a higher interest of my subscribers.

Here we go....

Goodbye blogspot

It was nice knowing ya.
www.caileydawn.tumblr.com

First Blog; Introduction!

I've been requested by alot of my subscribers from my music YouTube channel (caileydawnosaur) to make a separate beauty-guru channel.
